Dinner in Montmartre & Moulin Rouge Spectacle

The cabaret show of the Moulin Rouge is still the most popular venue to see the worlds most talented French show girls. Shows start at 9pm and 11pm.

Prior to your tour you will have Dinner right next to the famous Place du Tertre, a square surrounded by cafes where artists such as Picasso and Renoir have been meeting and painting since the 1800s. In fact the restaurant has been serving food since the belle epoque.

Don't worry about getting there or back to your accommodation as we will provide private transfers. The only walking is down the hill 10 minutes from the restaurant to the Moulin Rouge.

Why not go early, walk over to Sacre Couer and declare your love or propose while looking over Paris.

The can can

Origins of the Can Can

The 19th century would see the birth of beautiful opera, ballet and theater houses, newly opened to accommodate Paris’s new wealthy bourgeois population. The beautiful Opera Garnier was built at this time. While many went for the show, it was also the place to be seen and to spot one’s next love interest! Some say that more attention was paid to the crowd than the actors on stage.

For those looking for more risqué forms of entertainment and flirtation. Paris at the end of the 19th century would also witness the first striptease! The striptease was comically recorded by a Parisian sociologist as being a dance that was more about sensuously taking off ones clothes than actually being naked.

The Moulin Rouge, best known as the spiritual birthplace of the of the can-can dance, also opened at this time. Originally introduced as a seductive dance by the courtesans who operated from the site, the can-can dance revue evolved into a form of entertainment of its own and led to the introduction of cabarets across Europe. Famous artists included La Goulue and Mistinguett.

tour reviews

I wanted to tell you that the "Montmartre Evening Package" that you set up was really exceptional. We walked on up the hill and on to "Au Lapin Agile." The manager was expecting us and once the song being sung was completed, he took us in and sat us down on a bench right in front of the singer (another "little sparrow" who sang a lot of Edith Piaff songs and played the accordian). Nice way to end the evening. We left around 12:30 or so and walked back down the hill to the Metro by Moulin Rouge We couldn't have asked for anything better, Larry. Thank you, My best wishes to you and your team and I definitely plan to contact you for future opportunities. Alan
